Trevor Richer - The passing of one of the greats of the contact centre era

Writer: Morris PentelMorris Pentel

Like many I was really sad to hear of the passing of Trevor Richer. Trevor was someone who, too few of you will know as, one of the architects of the contact centre era.

Trevor was at the heart of the contact centre era and later the network services and cloud businesses with a huge influence on the technology we use today. Trevors influence in some of the technologies that are common place today will always underrated.

I worked with him many times and with his support I delivered a number of massive innovations. He frequently created the opportunity, and provided the drive for programmes that now are simply called best practice. Over his career he mentored many, kept his word, and treated all with robust frankness. He had a wicked sense of humour and never met a stinking cheese he didn't like.

He was an example of a fair manager and businessman of which there are too few these days. He was a devoted family man and a great member of his community.

He got me into my first fight when we were 12. Over the next 50 years we travelled a lot and had a huge amount of fun. He will be sorely missed by many of us. For me I think a very large number of my best memories involve him so goodbye Trev
